Gratitude Changed My Day
It can change yours too.
November 22, 2020 – This morning I participated in #PeopleSkillsChat with @KateNasser and company on Twitter. The topic was gratitude and so begins the story of how gratitude changed my day.
Several hours later, I meditated.
Until!
Loud unpleasant unending noise disrupted the silence as landscape crews went leaf blowing through the neighborhood. Their ceaseless work was not inclined to accommodate my twenty minute practice. On any other day I would attempt to get my mind off the noise and grow increasingly annoyed as I failed to do so. This, in turn, would make the noise, and accompanying annoyance, more prevalent and increasingly annoying.
This day something different happened because mind set affects perspective and perspective changes perceptions. Perceptions, in turn, affect how we experience the world around us. On November 22, my mind was set to the gratitude channel and it affected how I perceived and received the leaf blowers’ never ending noise.
It became a symphony.
This particular tune indicated the landscapers have work. This means their families have food and shelter. During this phase of the pandemic many families do not. So I was even more grateful to hear the landscapers’ Leaf Blowing symphony.
My heart opened to a smile and that is its own kind of music.
